TABC stands for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, which is the regulatory authority
responsible for overseeing and enforcing the state’s alcoholic beverage laws and regulations.
Alcoholic Beverage License: To sell or serve alcoholic beverages in Texas, you typically
need to obtain a TABC license. For LSM you will need to get a Seller/Server Certificate.
Age Restrictions: It’s illegal to sell or serve alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age,
which is 21 in Texas. Checking IDs and verifying the age of customers is essential.
Hours of Sale: You may only sell beer and wine Monday-Friday 7am thru 12 , Saturday 7am
to 1 am Saturday and Sunday 10 am thru 12 am.
Serving and Consumption: There are rules governing how alcohol can be served and
consumed. For example, open containers of alcohol are not allowed in certain public areas.
Open containers are not allowed on LSM property for any reason.
Enforcement and Penalties: TABC has the authority to enforce these regulations and can
issue fines, suspend or revoke licenses, or take other disciplinary actions against businesses or
individuals who violate the law. LSM employees who fail to comply can also result in
termination.
It’s important to note that TABC regulations can change, and the specific requirements may
vary based on the type of license and location. If you plan to operate a business involving
alcoholic beverages in Texas, it’s crucial to contact the TABC or consult with legal counsel to
ensure that you are in compliance with the latest regulations and requirements.
